FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does the new Microsoft Dynamics NAV licensing model mean for SITE?

A: Through October 2006, it was possible to choose between a user-based licensing model or a module/user-based model for Dynamics NAV. This was essentially a business issue, decided by the number of users. Singhammer offered SITE models corresponding to both licensing models.

Since October 2006, licensing has only been possible via Microsoft Dynamics NAV BRL (Business Ready Licensing), with a defined range of functions per concurrent user. For SITE, the advanced management package is used. The SITE user model follows this licensing model, with a basic granule and per-user licensing; the SITE users are always the same as the Navision users.

Q: Microsoft offered its partners a package consisting of Microsoft Dynamics NAV and SITE at a Microsoft Partner price. What is the status of this package?

A: This package was based on Microsoft’s old user-based model for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, which has not existed since October 2006. The model has been discontinued and can only be used through 12/31/2006 by Microsoft Partners that have acquired a license from Microsoft through Singhammer by that date.
